    Church of San Fortunato

    Rimini - Covignano

This church dates back to 1418; it was a rich abbey built on the ruins of a castle that Carlo Malatesta donated to San Paolo eremita's monks.

It was a Benedictine church (of the “white” or Olivetan order), the Church of Santa Maria di Scolca in Covignano, now the Parish church of San Fortunato. It still features a harmonious Renaissance architectural structure and the apse, considered a truemasterpiece of Mannerism, has an altarpiece of the Adoration of the Magipainted by Giorgio Vasari in 1547
