The world's longest New Year's Eve


The longest New Year's Eve covering the whole month of December and the beginning of January reaches its clou on 31st December with several events taking place in Rimini seaside area and historic centre.

It's an extraordinary chance to spend the Christmas time in the wonderful scenery of the sea in wintertime enjoying all the initiatives and proposals dedicated to Christmas and local traditions, art and culture, fun and entertainment.

The calender will be enriched with music concerts, dance performances and Christmas concerts: all kind of music will be represented, from jazz and blues to gothic metal and gospel, from traditional music to the lyric music. As tradition, Rimini welcomes the New Year with a lyric opera in the Auditorium of the Convention Centre (Sunday 1st January with replica on Tuesday 3rd) This year is on schedule “L'Elisir d’amore” by Gaetano Donizetti.

The whole city will be the protagonist by hosting a rich calender of events. Music performances and exhibitions will be proposed in famous and suggestive venues in the historic centre and the seaside area, including new spaces such as the archaelogical site “The Surgeon’s House”, the Malatesta Temple and the worksite of the ancient Teatro Galli. On the occasion (on 17th December) a new cultural space will also be opened in the historic centre, FAR (Fabbrica Arte Rimini), dedicated to contemporary art. In addition, the new Palacongressi will host a great concert by the Philharmonic Orchestra of the mineral waters in Caucasus, 6th December

The New Year's celebrations in Rimini start with the great concert in piazzale Fellini: guest star Franco Battiato.

It follows: The New Year’s Eve Milonga Tango and Flamenco Notes at the Teatro degli Atti until late at night.

Come dancing! New Year’s Eve Dance with the ballroom dancing schools led by Italian champions Mirko and Sandra along with other dancing schools from the area at the old Trade Fair halls from 9pm.

The Discotheques’ New Year with the Rimini Movida Pass: it is a pass for an unforgettable New Year in all the Marina Centro venues.These are: Coconuts, Bounty, Rose & Crown, the Barge, Rockisland, Ioclub, Mucho Macho.
A free non-stop shuttle bus from Rimini harbour to Bellariva (Piazzale Gondar) and back from 10.00 pm to 6.00 am. For whoever wants to visit the old town centre there will also be a shuttle from Piazza Cavour to the Harbour.

To welcome the forthcoming 2012, at midnight, spectacular fireworks on the sea will enlighten the beach area soon after the concert in piazzale Fellini near the fascinating Grand Hotel of Fellini.

The events will carry on till the middle of January waiting for the new great exhibition From Vermeer to Kandinsky: masterpieces from all over the world, that will be on from January 21st.
