Ilaria Alpi Award

Television Journalism Prize

Riccione

The only Italian competition for investigative television journalism; reports by various national and local networks are compared and judged by leading journalists and national news programme directors.

Lots of events are scheduled ranging from screenings to debates and from exhibitions to shows, including seminars, workshops and meetings.

Heart of the event is a competition addressed to television investigative journalism dealing with issues of civic and social engagement. The award, entitled to the Italian journalist killed in Mogadishu together with the cameraman Miran Hrovatin, aims at enhancing the investigative journalism of those who pursue the search for truth in producing information.

The jury of the Ilaria Alpi Award, chaired by Luca Ajroldi, concluded the selection of participants of the competition of the twentieth edition of the award, identifying the finalists of the following categories: Best Italian Television Enquiry under 15 minutes, Best Italian Television Enquiry over 15 minutes, IA Rai Doc aimed at unpublished reports and Best International Journalistic Investigation.

Two other special awards characterise the prize: the Unicredit prize, addressed to a female journalist who has stood for courage and the Coop Ambiente prize addressed more specifically to an investigation with relevance to environmental issues.

The projection of the finalists' video, followed by the meeting with the authors, will take place during the days of the Ilaria Alpi Prize in Riccione and the winners will be decreed on Saturday, September 6, at the Palazzo dei Congressi in Riccione, during the awards ceremony broadcast on Raitre.
