A Sea of Nativity Scenes

Cattolica

During  the winter period, visitors can see many handmade Nativity Scenes inside the most beautiful Aquarium tanks; from the amazing Mediterranean Sea to the beauties of the Pacific and Indian Oceans.

The most amazing Nativity takes place in the Shark Tank. In fact, Sharks  are the principal attraction of the Aquarium: over 50 specimens of 13 different species: ranging from the small Mediterranean varieties to the huge Sand-Tiger Sharks from South Africa, which can even reach up to 4 meters in length. The shark tank is filled with over 700,000 liters of sea water and is populated with 12 sharks and a multitude of pelagic fish. Inside this tank the Holy Family and the pastors are guarded by these big animals.

During the month of December the Cattolica Aquarium is open on the 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 18th.
Beside this timetable, the Aquarium is open everyday from December 26th to January 8th.
