World Ducati Week
WDW means World Ducati Week - the colossal worldwide Ducati rally of thousands of aficionados from dozens of nations.
A veritable legion of motorcyclists and motorcycle fans will meet up at the Misano World Circuit in Misano Adriatico, Italy to have fun and celebrate their love for bikes - especially (but not limited to) the "Reds from Borgo Panigale".
Of course, WDW 2014 just wouldn't be complete without the official Ducati riders of the MotoGP and Superbike teams. They'll be there to meet the fans and share with them their unending passion for the "Reds of Borgo Panigale". The riders from Ducati Team MotoGP Andrea Dovizioso and Cal Crutchlow will participate, as well as the riders of Team Pramac, Andrea Iannone and Yonny Hernández, and also Michele Pirro, the test driver of Ducati Test Team. And let's not forget the riders of Team Ducati Superbike, Davide Giugliano and Chaz Davies, along with Niccolò Canepa (Team Althea Racing), Leandro Mercado and Ondrej Jezek, riders of the Barni Racing Team, who along with Fabio Massei and Alex Schacht, from the EAB Racing Team, participate in the FIM Superstock Championship.
There will also be many legendary figures who have been invited to celebrate the "Birthday of the 916" which in 2014 celebrates twenty years since its creation. An exhibition dedicated to this icon of motorcycling(defined by the media as “art on two wheels” or “the eighth wonder of the world” and even “the Sistine Chapel of motorcycles”), will look back at the evolution of Superbike Ducati, starting from this original masterpiece and then looking at another state of the art model which is decidedly more current and just as iconic, the 1199 Superleggera, which exactly twenty years after the 916, has become a new reference point for producing motorcycles.
Special guests include the champion Troy Bayliss, and Carlos Checa, the Spanish rider who won the world Superbike championship in 2011. Among the others there are some stars such as the legend Carl Fogarty, Piefrancesco Chili, Doug Polen, Régis Laconi and Giancarlo Falappa, all of whom are connected to world championships won in Superbike riding a Ducati.
For enthusiasts, besides the traditional riding on the track, there will be an exclusive test ride of the newest models from Ducati, just like the real WDW Tour.
A great "banquet" for all the participants set up in the pit lane of the track will enliven the evening on Saturday, July 19 with something for everyone.
It will also be possible to sign up for the Ducati University conferences, held by managers and designers from Ducati; or take a trip back in time thanks to the second-hand market or the historical bikes exposition.
And that's not all. There will be stunts, a best custom bike competition, a charity auction, fireworks, music and much more.
