Blue Flags on the Riviera di Rimini

When the sea is clean, and when there is a minimum of environmental and sustainable measures in place, an area can be awarded an international certificate by the Foundation for Environmental Education. The award has existed since 1987 and is called the Blue Flag  (Ital.: Bandiera Blu)
It stands for clean sea, waste separation, bike paths, and services for the disabled.

On the Riviera di Rimini, the beaches of Bellaria Igea Marina, Cattolica and Misano Adriatico have been awarded the blue flag in 2018.
The excellent water quality is measured according to microbiological parameters as set down in the community bathing directives.
From Bellaria to Cattolica we can therefore be certain that the water we swim in is free of any organic pollutants such as E. coli and enterococci.

The quality of the sea water on the Riviera di Rimini is well illustrated and updated by the Agenzia Regionale Prevenzione Ambiente in collaboration with the health service of the Emilia Romagna.
Every day, they check the water quality off your favourite beach!
