    Torre Pedrera

the most northerly part of Rimini, 7 km from the city centre. Torre Pedrara has a direct road link to the Rimini north exit on the A14 motorway. Two kilometres of beach with breakwaters, where friendly beach attendants and the local tourist committee are always ready to offer party events with tasting of grilled fish and Sangiovese red wine. Hospitality is guaranteed by a vast variety of accommodation options, from small family-run boarding houses to luxury hotels, and from holiday flats to campsites. An open-air market is held once weekly along the avenue alongside the railway line, but for the rest of the week the seafront is naturally the main attraction, with boutiques, pizzerias, bars and souvenir shops.

Brief history: The name of Torre Pedrera comes from an old tower built in 1673 by the Papal State. The local inhabitants built their homes with stones taken from the riverbed, hence the name of "Torre della Pedreira". Given its geographical position, the area has always had a certain importance in observing shipping activities, and for defence against marauding Saracen pirates and Turkish invaders.
