    San Martino dei Mulini

    The name of this village comes from the many watermills once situated in the Marecchia Valley.
    Farming and craftwork centre, and also an important road junction, with shopkeepers, craftworkers and farmers.

    worth seeing:
    the 18th-entry San Bartolomeo parish church is built on the foundations of a pagan temple, and inside there are 17th-century paintings, a plasterwork altarpiece from the same century, a stone baptismal font made from a Byzantine capital (7th century) and a paper-mâche crucifix from the late 18th century. The "Tomba" is a tower some 22 metres high from the mid-14th century topped by battlements, the only surviving trace of a larger fortification.
